A response to the concentration problems caused by open office designs.

The piece explores how textures could help mentally reinforce a "work" state and aid focus in a distracting open office.

The piece is self-tensioning, designed to be taut at the recommended monitor viewing distance. 

Nylon monofilament strips provide structural support.


Process
Sketch explorations shifted the design from one based on pen and paper to one dictated by the tension of the knit.

Prototypes and gauge swatches were used to refine the form, color, and punch card pattern.
